diversity illustration cover

A few months back I was commissioned to create illustrations for the Walgreens Boots Alliance‘s 2018-19 Diversity & Inclusion Report. The title All Together. Different. Considering the current state of the world, it was a very timely commission. I’m often asked to create montages and this project was certainly no different. Five montage illustrations showing […]

Jazz musician drawing

Last month I visited New Orleans and had a chance to spend two nights on Frenchman Street in the world famous French Quarter. Frenchman Street is famous for its eclectic mix of live music happening nightly, late into the night. Perfect for me to put the kids to bed and get out to experience the […]

Happy New Year!I apologize, it’s been a while since my last post. It’s been one of those times in an illustrator’s career where all of the projects you’re working on are confidential. In other words, you’re super busy but you can’t tell anyone. Luckily I can finally talk about one of them! So for my […]

No, not his real name, as he told me with a smile. He’s a fantastic jazz organist that I happened upon on my last night in Kansas City last month. I took the show in from the front row and just enjoyed drawing. It had been a while since I had such a good seat, […]

Here is an illustration that ran in the Wall Street Journal last Saturday. The illustration accompanied a short piece about the new Bose Frames Audio Sunglasses. Had fun doing this one. I posted the sketches below too.

I attended my first American Illustration party last Thursday. This is also my first time chosen to appear in the American Illustration Book that will be distributed later this year, American Illustration 37. The party was held at the Angel Orensanz Center, which is housed in the oldest surviving synagogue building in New York City. […]

A few months ago I was asked to create the 2018 cover for the Edelman citizenship report, an annual report of sorts. The cover had to encompass the 4 main principles of their corporate culture: community, people, world, and clients. After a few sketches were worked over the final color version was created. The 4 […]

Had a chance to illustrate the cover of Benefits Pro magazine this month as well as the opening spread for the cover story. I always enjoy working with AD Chris and I love that they boldly used illustration on their cover. Here is the illustration, sans type, and the spread. Would love to hear what […]

Here is my latest illustration for the Style section of the New York Times. I was asked to illustrate gender inequality in the fashion industry. I had a few sketch options which I think worked but I’m really happy with the “slanted runway” concept that was chosen. Many thanks to AD Bernadette and the NYT for […]

“1-minutes” are what these short poses are sometimes called. They’re great for capturing body language and design. What I find is that they tend to be honest and instinctual. Less time to think and only time to react. It’s great exercise for the mind and hand.
Happy New Year!
